It is a short path of approximately 6 to 7 hours of walking until you reach the archaeological group of Machupicchu.

Recall that the Inca Trail is part of a 45,000km communication network that linked the entire empire with its capital Cuzco. It was built in the fourteenth century and connected to Machu Picchu. The American historian, Hiram Bingham on one of his expeditions along the path as well as Machu Picchu in 1911. The Inca road was opened to the public in 1970.



First Day:

The first day you will start in Cusco (3,350m/11,055ft) and take an early morning train from Ollantaytambo through the picturesque Sacred Valley until we reach Km 104 (2,200m/7,2600ft). At Km 104 we begin our trek. You will cross over the Vilcanota River via a beautiful bridge and arrive at Chachabamba, the first Inca ruin on our trek.

The trek continues on an ascending path into a forest. Here you will reach a magnificent waterfall and shortly afterwards you will arrive at the Inca construction of Wiñay Wayna (‘Forever Young’). Here you will have lunch and then continue the journey to Inti Punku (the Sun Gate) where you will have your first impressive view of Machu Picchu (2,500m/8,250ft). After taking in the view you will take the bus to the town of Aguas Calientes where you will spend the night.


Second Day:

After a good breakfast, you will take the first bus up to Machu Picchu where you will have a guided tour on the amazing architecture and mysterious temples with our professional English speaking guide. Our guide will help you understand the sophisticated ideas of this highly advanced culture.

Once you have completed the official tour, you will have plenty of time to explore the sanctuary on your own before returning to Cusco by train in the afternoon.
